And Saul eyed David... I Samuel 18:9

Saul was the King of Israel. David was just a shepherd boy. But what was told about David irked him so badly, he eyed David that day onwards.

Well, this is about the story of David and Saul. May be some of us are familiar with this incident. What made Saul see David with anger? It could have been the envy factor. But Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:4 Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour ... So envy could be there in anyone's heart. Perhaps that was there in Saul's heart.

Well, here the question is when anyone probably everyone can have envy why are we singling out Saul as some one who was wrong. Yes, true all of us go through this path, of envying someone else at some point or the other. But when we realize our folly we turn back from that. Who makes that conviction in us? the HolySpirit. But unfortunately Saul has lost the Spirit of God in Him so there is no conviction of sin. There is no turning back from the folly.

Dearly beloved in Christ, we ought to be carefully treading the path once we receive the Spirit of God. We should not grieve Him. We should not quench the Spirit. If we do so we never know how bad the consequences will be.

May the Lord God help us to be fervent in the HolySpirit and walk according to the Law of the Spirit and get prepared for our heavenly abode.

May the name of our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified.
