They were greatly afraid. (Tamil translation attached)

When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.  I Samuel 17:11

Saul and the people of Israel were greatly afraid of Goliath.

Why was there fear?

David was also an Israelite, but he had no fear.

Instead he had the power and zeal to overpower Goliath.

What made the difference?

1.       He had the spirit of God

2.      He was a righteous man

Generally,

a.       Fear is an element that affects people who do not fear the Lord (un-righteous)

We see this in,

       Proverbs 28:1The wicked flee when no man pursueth:But the righteous are bold as a lion.

Proverbs 10:24The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him:…

b.       Fear also attacks Godly people when they go away from the way of the Lord.

        It could be a sin, or also it could be a deviation from the will of God that can cause fear.

        We can see from the story of a man of God from Judah who deviated from the guidance of God because another prophet lied and cheated him; he was killed by a lion on his way back home. So deviation from the way of God gives room for external forces to attack us. ( I Kings 13 )

 c.       Fear is caused when people close to one go through grave situations

We can think of people around Jonah who faced near death situation ( Jonah 1)

d.       Also, fear is an element used by the devil.

Hebrews 2:15…and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 

Here we see Goliath was standing tall and scaring people. All the people of Israel, who were the people of God, the chosen ones, had no clue of how to handle this man. They had faith in God, but no courage to face the situation they were forced with; they were only seeing what was there physically and not what the Lord was up to.

So how do we get courage to stand against the fear:

1.       If we have not accepted Christ the first thing is to accept Him as our Lord and savior and receive the spirit of God

2.     If spirit anointed, we need to decipher if we have erred anywhere by deviating from the way of the Lord. We need to fix that deviation.

3.       Some times the fear could be out of the grave situation faced by completely another person’s life who is close to us. It once again needs faith and courage to face such situations

To summarize, we need the Lord at our side to face the fear. Faith and courage are two factors which when we gain in from the grace of God, we could face off any situation that causes fear.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

சவுலும் இஸ்ரவேலர்  அனைவரும்  அந்தப்  பெலிஸ்தனுடைய  வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, கலங்கி மிகவும் பயப்பட்டார்கள். I சாமுவேல் 17

சவுலும் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களும் கோலியாத்தை நினைத்து மிகவும் பயந்தார்கள்.

பயம் ஏன் வந்தது?

தாவீதும் ஒரு இஸ்ரவேலனாக இருந்தார், ஆனால் அவருக்கு எந்த பயமும் இல்லை.

அதற்கு பதிலாக கோலியாத்தை வெல்லும் சக்தியும் வைராக்கியமும் அவருக்கு இருந்தது.

வித்தியாசத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியது எது?

1. அவரிடம் கடவுளின் ஆவி இருந்தது

2. அவர் ஒரு நீதியுள்ள தேவ மனிதர்

பொதுவாக,

a.       பயம் என்பது கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படாத (நீதியற்ற) மக்களைப் பாதிக்கும் ஒரு அம்சம்

நீதிமொழிகள் 28:1-ல் இதை நாம் காண்கிறோம், யாரும் துரத்தாதபோது துன்மார்க்கர் ஓடிப்போவார்கள்:ஆனால் நீதிமான்கள் சிங்கத்தைப் போல தைரியமாக இருப்பார்கள்

நீதிமொழிகள் 10:24 துன்மார்க்கன் பயப்படும் காரியம் அவனுக்கு வந்து நேரிடும்:...

ஆம், பயம் துன்மார்க்கரைப் பிடிக்கும்.

b.     கர்த்தருடைய வழியிலிருந்து விலகிச் செல்லும்போது பயம் தேவபக்தியுள்ள மக்களையும் தாக்குகிறது. காரணம், அது ஒரு பாவமாக இருக்கலாம், அல்லது அது கடவுளின் சித்தத்திலிருந்து விலகிச் சென்றதாகவும் இருக்கலாம்.

யூதாவைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு கடவுளின் மனிதனின் கதையிலிருந்து நாம்  காணலாம். அவர் மற்றொரு தீர்க்கதரிசி பொய் சொல்லி ஏமாற்றியதால் கடவுளின் வழிகாட்டுதலிலிருந்து விலகிச் சென்றார்;அவர் வீடு திரும்பும் வழியில் ஒரு சிங்கத்தால் கொல்லப்பட்டார்.எனவே கடவுளின் வழியிலிருந்து விலகுவது வெளிப்புற சக்திகள் நம்மைத் தாக்க இடமளிக்கிறது. c.      மேலும், பயம் என்பது பிசாசால் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஒரு அம்சம்.

எபிரெயர் 2:15... ஜீவகாலமெல்லாம் மரணபயத்தினாலே அடிமைத்தனத்திற் -குள்ளானவர்கள் யாவரையும் விடுதலைபண்ணும்படிக்கும் அப்படியானார்

d.    சில சமயங்களில் பயம் என்பது நமக்கு நெருக்கமான மற்றொரு நபரின் வாழ்க்கை எதிர்கொள்ளும் கடுமையான சூழ்நிலையிலிருந்து வரலாம்.

 யோனாவைச் சுற்றி மரணத்திற்கு அருகில் இருந்த மக்களை நாம் சிந்திக்கலாம் (யோனா 1)

இங்கே கோலியாத் நிமிர்ந்து நின்று மக்களை பயமுறுத்துவதைக் காண்கிறோம். கடவுளின் மக்களாக, தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட இனமாக இருந்த இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இந்த மனிதனை எப்படிக் கையாள்வது என்பது பற்றி எந்தத் துப்பும் இல்லை. அவர்களுக்கு கடவுள் மீது நம்பிக்கை இருந்தது, ஆனால் சூழ்நிலையை எதிர்கொள்ள தைரியம் இல்லை; அவர்கள் உடல் ரீதியாக என்ன இருக்கிறது என்பதைப் பார்த்தார்கள், கர்த்தர் என்ன செய்யப் போகிறார் என்பதைப் பார்க்கவில்லை.

எனவே பயத்தை எதிர்த்து நிற்க நமக்கு எப்படி தைரியம் கிடைக்கும்?:

1. நாம் கிறிஸ்துவை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை என்றால், முதலில் அவரை நம் ஆண்டவராகவும் இரட்சகராகவும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு  கடவுளின் ஆவியைப் பெறுவதுதான்.

2. ஆவியால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தாலும், நாம் கர்த்தரின் வழியிலிருந்து விலகி எங்காவது தவறு செய்திருக்கிறோமா என்பதை நாம் புரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும். அந்த வழிவிலகலை நாம் சரிசெய்ய வேண்டும்.

3.சில சமயங்களில் பயம் என்பது நமக்கு நெருக்கமான மற்றொரு நபரின்  வாழ்க்கை எதிர்கொள்ளும் கடுமையான சூழ்நிலையிலிருந்து வரலாம்.

இதுபோன்ற சூழ்நிலைகளை எதிர்கொள்ள விசுவாசமும் தைரியமும் தேவை. சுருக்கமாகச் சொன்னால்,பயத்தை எதிர்கொள்ள நமக்குக் கர்த்தர்  துணையாக இருக்க வேண்டும். விசுவாசமும் தைரியமும் இரண்டு  காரணிகளாகும், கடவுளின் கிருபையிலிருந்து, அதன் காரணமாக, நாம் பயனடையும்போது,பயத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் எந்தவொரு சூழ்நிலையையும் எதிர்கொள்ள முடியும்.

சங்கீதம் 23:4 நான் மரண இருளின் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே நடந்தாலும்  பொல்லாப்புக்குப்  பயப்படேன்; தேவரீர் என்னோடேகூட இருக்கிறீர்; உமது கோலும் உமது தடியும் என்னைத் தேற்றும்.
