Walking according to the word of God - How ?

How can a young man cleanse his way?By taking heed according to Your word. Psalm 119:9

This verse is well known in the Christian circles. But how many of us really obey the word of God at all times. I think hardly a few of us. Though many knows this verse not many could follow this. Well, having said that, how can we enable people to follow the word of God.

Let us listen from the one who followed His word with all his heart and might.

David in the same Psalm makes a prayer to God "Teach me Your statutes." Psalm 119:12.

Yes it did not come easily to David also. He had to pray about it, to follow the word of God.Let us follow that and pray to the Lord.

In 119:11 he suggests that he read the verses and hid them in his heart. I think this is nothing but part of armour of God. In Ephesians 6 we read about the word of God as sword. We need to acquire that, so that we can hide the word of God in our heart.

In Psalms 119:10 he says he sought the Lord with all his heart. Are we seeking the Lord with all our heart.

These are good indicators that he had to pray, and read bible consistently. Well, some of us might even say these are fundamental principles of Christian walk. True, but still we end up not following them.

well, I would add one more point to that. When we read Romans 8:1, Paul says, For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

There is a law called law of the Spirit. It talks about us obeying the promptings of Holy Spirit. Yes Holy Spirit prompts us to obey the word of God. In other words He gives us the "counsel". That is also being mentioned in psalms by David. In Psalm 107:11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High,

Yes the Holy Spirit gives us the counsel. He never physically prevents us from doing things. We read also from Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh...

Yes let us make a decision we obey the promptings of Holy Spirit and thus obey the word of God. Those we have not received the Spirit of God please ask and receive the Holy Spirit from Jesus Christ our Lord and God.
