Why do we need to read Old testament? - my view.
I have seen many people saying old testament is not relevant today but for the promises. I beg to differ from that. There are many saints' walk with the Lord are documented. When we read them we easily could relate to the situations that they were in with the situations that we might go through. All might agree with me the saints in the old testament also were guided by the spirit of God. So how the spirit of God led them in various circumstances are living lessons for us. To

...teach me thy statutes - David's prayer
Many of us might be aware that reading Bible and understanding should be part of any person to lead a victories walk in Jesus Christ. Still most of us falter in that. There was David who followed the word of God diligently. But how was that possible for him? It was his prayer to the Lord to teach him to keep His commandments. That is what we read in Psalm 119:12, 19, 26, 27, 29, 34, 35 and so on. Yes, he got the ability to understand and obey His commandments by praying to th

Kingdom of God - a perspective
Luke 14:15 …Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. There was a person in the crowd where Jesus was, saying the above verse. When Jesus heard that He said a parable, though there was no mention of the word parable in the chapter I see it as a parable used by God to explain the kingdom of God, as there were similar parables in other Gospel books, we see a few of them in Matthew 13. What is the significance of this parable? Here there were people giving

Walking according to the word of God - How ?
How can a young man cleanse his way?By taking heed according to Your word. Psalm 119:9 This verse is well known in the Christian circles. But how many of us really obey the word of God at all times. I think hardly a few of us. Though many knows this verse not many could follow this. Well, having said that, how can we enable people to follow the word of God. Let us listen from the one who followed His word with all his heart and might. David in the same Psalm makes a prayer t

Do we understand what we read in Bible?
Luke 8:9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? Many face this issue. Do not understand Bible. I have heard many saying this. We read the Bible but do not understand what it means. This happened to many people who heard the word from the mouth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Are you surprised? The Bible says so. In Luke 8 in Jesus talks about the parable of sower and the seeds. Not many in face none possibly understood that in first place. The

Are we obeying the counsel of God?
Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him. Here we see the Pharisees and Lawyers rejecting the counsel of God to be baptized by John. Bible does not record it as a commandment to get baptized by John. But that was a counsel of God came via John the baptist. John who preached about repentance made it a point to baptize the people as a mark of acceptance of his message. Though the sinners accepted that messa

Counsel of God
Psalm 119:5 Oh, that my ways were directed, To keep Your statutes! Dearly beloved, we tend to think we know many things from Bible. We know things that are essential and we do keep many of them could be our thought. Yet we falter in some areas which we think is common to everybody. Here the Psalmist does not think it that way. He thinks it would be so good if his ways could be directed to keep His statutes. Many times when we commit mistakes, or sins we may tend to th

My help cometh from the Lord.
You pushed me violently, that I might fall, But the Lord helped me. Psalm 118:13 Yes, the psalmist talks about the opposition that he had from the enemy. But he quotes that the Lord helped him. Dearly beloved in Christ, we are also pushed back to make us fall. But the Lord our God Jesus Christ helps us from falling. He lifts us up every time we are about to fall. Sometimes we may even face difficult conditions that make us think if we are still standing. Many times, we tend

Where are we in our journey?
May be the question is what journey are we in? It is the journey towards the promised land/pleasant land/eternity. Many a times we feel unsure about where we are. David was clear about where he was. So he begs the Lord to have mercy upon him. Yes, dearly beloved in Christ we all have to be perfected in our journey towards eternity. Yet few acknowledge the same. David was bold and honest in doing so. He goes one step further and confides to the Lord his position as it was lik

Are we seeking the pleasant Land?
Psalmist says in Psalms 106:24 Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word, But complained in their tents, And did not heed the voice of the Lord. Many a times we tend to see the promised land or the pleasant land as Canaan of this world. But the Canaan of eternity is yet to come or the ones we have not seen so far. Even when we know it is of eternal land we do not give significant attention to that. Dearly beloved in Christ, Bible warns us of losing t
